Usuthu are on a two-game winning run and are high in confidence after they handed Mamelodi Sundowns their first defeat of the campaign after Augustine Mulenga’s decisive goal earned AmaZulu a 1-0 win at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Monday, 20 December.
Pirates come into this game sitting in fourth place in the DStv Premiership standings with 27 points, having won six games, drawn nine and conceded three defeats in 18 matches.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu currently occupies a place below Pirates in the fifth position on the log with the same points after they only conceded two defeats, played out to 12 draws and secured five wins in 19 matches.
When the two sides last met in the DStv Premiership, Pirates and Amazulu shared the spoils after they played out to a 1-1 draw at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium when Tshepang Moremi’s 45th-minute goal cancelled out Deon Hotto’s 29th-minute opener on Wednesday 8 December.
