Liverpool will have the chance to return to the top of the Premier League standings, if they can overcome Claudio Ranieri’s Watford side at Vicarage Road in the early kick-off on Saturday.
The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the season and remain unbeaten after seven matches, while Watford have had a mixed start to the new campaign since their promotion from the first division, having only won two games, drawn one and conceded four defeats thus far.
Jurgen Klopp’s side came into this encounter after securing a vital points against Manchester City following their entertaining 2-2 draw at Anfield when Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s goals were cancelled out by goals from Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne.
Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri endured his first defeat as the new boss of the club after replacing Xisco Munoz, when they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at Ella Road through a solitary goal by Diego Llorente.
Heading into this fixture, Liverpool occupy second place with 15 points, a point behind log leaders Chelsea, while Watford currently sits 15th on the log with seven points from seven matches.
This will be the first time these two sides meet in the Premier League since February 2020, when the Hornets defeat the Reds 3-0 to end their club record 44-game unbeaten run in the league, and their joint Premier League record 18-game winning streak.
Watford: Ismaila Sarr
The Senegalese international has been key for the Hornets and made an ideal start to the season by already scoring four goals in seven appearances and his lighting-fast pace and keen eye for goal will surely give the Reds defenders a run for their money.
Liverpool: Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian has been in tremendous form for the Red since the start of the campaign and has already managed to netted six goals and assisted a further three in seven matches. Salah’s current form will definitely give Liverpool the confidence they need to collect all three points against a Watford side current fighting to remain out of the relegation zone.
