The penultimate round of PSL action is set for Wednesday as all eyes will be on the relegation battle.
With Mamelodi Sundowns once again crowned the champions of South Africa, it remains to be seen who will face the drop.
At the moment, Black Leopards are rooted to the basement but their shock victory over Kaizer Chiefs had massive implications. Firstly, it was the final straw as Chiefs sacked Gavin Hunt after a miserable season. The second consequence is that it brought Leopards back from the dead.
Leopards are three back of Chippa United, who are just two back of Stellenbosch United.
TTM and Maritzburg both have 29 points, four more than Chippa at this point, so you can see why today’s matches are critical.
Stellenbosch vs TS Galaxy
In their last five games, Stellenbosch have lost twice and not won. TS Galaxy on the other hand, are in eighth and chasing a spot in the MTN8 next season. With three wins in their last five league games, they will be keen to take some points off their hosts.
Cape Town City vs Black Leopards
Leopards are playing for their lives. With one eye on Chippa’s result, Leopards will be giving their all to make it 2 wins from 2 as they attempt an Houdini-like escape from the drop. City are winless in four as Eric Tinkler starts his second game in charge of the Cape side.
SuperSport United vs Maritzburg United
SuperSport sit in sixth and are in a lean run of form. This is the perfect opportunity for the Team of Choice to grab a point or more and help them move to safety.
TTM vs Chippa United
A win for TTM would send them clear of the relegation scrap and would be massive for Chippa, who would then head into the final day of fixtures with plenty to do.
Every match in the league tonight kicks off at 5pm.
