Liverpool are looking to bounce back after their shock defeat to Atalanta but manager Jurgen Klopp has warned Ajax will be no pushovers.
After demolishing Atalanta 5-0, the Reds surprisingly lost 2-0 to the Italians which in turn, threw their Champions League group wide open.
Now, they face Ajax Amsterdam … a foe which Klopp is cautious when sizing up their threat.
“I think they are as dangerous an opponent as you can get at this stage of the competition,” he said.
“It is no surprise that this group is so tight and will probably go to the final round to be decided.
“The game we played in Amsterdam was a proper battle. We showed fight and determination to get the result – but it was a really good game, played between two committed sets of players.”
The Dutch side are on a hot run at present with wins in their last six games in all competitions. Add that form with their regular status as giant killers and Liverpool’s injury crisis and it is setting up to be a classic.
A win allows Liverpool to relax with Group D qualification secured but that result is far from certain with an intriguing 90 minutes to play.
