Kaizer Chiefs face a tricky visit to Moroka Swallows as the pressure starts to mount following a poor start to the PSL season.
The two biggest talking points are that Chiefs will be without Erick Mathoho – who is serving a suspension after seeing red in the MTN8 defeat to Orlando Pirates – and Swallows magnificent record of just a single defeat in their last 21 matches; a run that dates back to December 2019.
Compare that record to the fact that Amakhosi have n ow won just four of their last 16 matches. It is quickly shaping up to be labelled as a midweek tie that Gavin Hunt cannot afford to lose.
Added to the pressure around this contest is the fact that new Swallows players Keegan Ritchie and Virgil Vries will be eying revenge after being discarded by Chiefs.
The visitors will be lifted by the fact that they did manage to score two goals in their draw against Golden Arrows on the weekend.
A performance that Amakhosi midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo believes his side can build on.
“For us it is important to get three points so that we gain confidence and belief moving forward,” he says. “We are up against a strong team that has not lost this season. We have to go there and fight for a win.”
The match at Dobsonville Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
