Two wins in a row without conceding has laid the foundation for Pitso Mosimane’s stay with Al Ahly.
His side, hit by a number of injuries, recored their second win to make it three goals scored, two wins and no goals conceded thus far.
Mosimane’s influence has been praised by sporting director Sayed Abdelhafiz.
“It is an important victory and a good preparation for the game against Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League. We had a fantastic first half and we played fine football in the most moments of the second half,” he said.
“Our manager loves playing beautiful football. His history and his tactics show the type of manager he is.”
Assistant coach Sami Komsan was another to praise the new mentor.
“Despite the many absences within the side, we showed real character in the match as we dominated the game from start to the end,” Komsan said in the post-match press conference.
“Mosimane fulfilled his dream of coaching Al Ahly and he knows the value of the club. He always talks with the players to deliver his tactics.
“We are doing our best to arrive to Morocco in perfect shape. We are determined to win the CAF Champions League title.”
Mosimane’s side face Pyramids in the final league game before the semi-final tie against Wydad Casablanca.
