The Rajasthan Royals beat the Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday despite heroics from Faf du Plessis.
The South African was in fine form as his side looked to chase down a daunting 216 set by the Royals. Victory was laid on by knocks of Sanju Samson (74 off 32) and captain Steve Smith (69 off 47 ) and then England ace Jofra Archer hitting Proteas speedster Lungi Ngidi for four sixes in the final of the innings.
Du Plessis’ 72 off 37 balls and a late MS Dhoni blitz – he hit three sixes in his side’s final over – wasn’t enough as the Royals won by 16 runs.
