The Europa League is back in action tonight with another four pulsating fixtures coming our way.
Following the resumption of football, these Europa League round of 16 ties have been shortened to a single knockout match with the winners staying in Germany to contest the final-eight competition from 10-21 August.
SEVILLA v ROMA
1 Sevilla Win – 2.25
X Draw – 3.25
2 Roma Win – 3.04
Incredibly, this is the first ever competitive meeting between these two European giants. Sevilla start the match as firm favourites due to their pedigree as five time Europa League winners and their superb LaLiga form where they finished fourth and qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
They won’t be taking Roma lightly with the Italians on an eight match unbeaten streak, which included a 3-1 win over Juventus in the last game of the Serie A season.
Suggested Bet: Sevilla to win at 2.25
BAYER LEVERKUSEN v RANGERS
1 Bayer Leverkusen Win – 1.62
X Draw – 3.97
2 Rangers Win – 4.75
The first leg of this tie saw Bayer Leverkusen win 3-1 in Scotland just before lockdown and this means they hold all the cards going into the second leg, looking strong favourites both to win this match and to progress to the quarter-finals.
Leverkusen narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification due to some hit and miss form following the restart, but they should have enough to get the job done against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team.
Interestingly, Rangers have only failed to score four times in Gerrard’s 55 games in charge and this attacking style could create betting value in the goals markets.
Suggested Bet: Leverkusen to win and BTTS – yes at 3.00
BASEL v EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
1 Basel Win – 3.09
X Draw – 3.77
2 Eintracht Frankfurt Win – 2.04
It’s somewhat surprising to see Eintracht Frankurt installed as favourites for this second leg encounter when you consider the manner of Basel’s 3-0 away win in the first leg of the tie.
Basel are also in fantastic form in the Europa League (P8, W7, L1) and while they might be able to take a relaxed attitude into the match considering their position of strength, they also look an attractive betting proposition.
Suggested Bet: Basel Win at 3.09
WOLVES v OLYMPIACOS
1 Wolves Win – 1.77
X Draw – 3.33
2 Olympiacos Win – 4.68
One of the intruiging ties of the round sees Wolverhampton Wanderers and Olympiacos go head to head after their first leg 1-1 draw in Greece.
Wolves have the away goal in the bag, however, and will be looking to turn their home ground advantage in their favour and progress to the quarter-finals.
Wolves started their Europa League campaign over a year ago when they took on Crusaders on the 25th of July, but will be determined to convert their great domestic form into a push for European glory.
The home side have scored in all of their last eight Europa League matches.
Suggested Bet: Wolves and BTTS – NO at 2.55
