The General, Teko Modise, joins us ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League encounters to give us his insights into the midweek fixtures.
The SportPesa brand ambassador looks at the race for Champions League qualification for next season. After Manchester City’s UEFA ban was overturned earlier in the week, the EPL is now a straight shootout for the top four spots and the lucrative qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
“With Manchester City’s decision being overturned, it now means you can’t qualify for the Champions League by finishing in position five,” said Modise.
“Looking at the log right now, you’ve got Chelsea in third with 60 points, Leicester City in fourth with 59 points and Manchester United in fifth on 59 points and the outsiders Wolves on 55 points.”
“It’s becoming very interesting seeing who will qualify, particularly after Chelsea dropped points and Manchester United dropped points. Leicester also haven’t been hitting top form.”
When it came to making his betting predictions ahead of the round, Teko admitted there were some difficult calls to make.
“Arsenal against Liverpool, we know how Arsenal are,” the former Bafana Bafana star said with a wry smile.
“We have Tottenham against Newcastle which is an interesting game. Whether Tottenham has an outside chance for Champions League qualification, I don’t know. Probably the Europa League,” Modise said.
“It will be interesting to see how Leicester City perform, if they don’t win it might open the door for outsiders, Wolves, to have a run at the top four.”
“Then we have Manchester United against Crystal Palace. Man U have to win! In a tough week of matches to predict, I think Manchester United should win.”
Teko’s Pick: Manchester United Win
After Teko’s four correct predictions out of four last weekend including a shock win for Sheffield United against Chelsea, the former Cape Town City midfielder is once again tipping the Blades to do the business against Leicester City.
“Leicester City against Sheffield United. I’m very skeptical of picking Leicester here because Sheffield United has been a team in form. I think Sheffield will win the game just to make things interesting,” Modise said.

“Then with Tottenham against Newcastle United, I’m going with a Tottenham win based on how they are playing and their counter attacking style.”
