Recent Champions League Form: Sabah Respond, Dortmund Seek Consistency
Sabah’s first two league-phase matches
Sabah opened their league-phase campaign with a 4–0 defeat away to Manchester United before defeating Slavia Praha 2–0 in Baku on 13 October. Kaheem Parris broke the deadlock shortly after half-time, and Joy-Lance Mickels added a late second. The clean sheet and second-half goals were an important response to their difficult opening match.
Borussia Dortmund’s European results
Dortmund started with a 3–2 victory over Villarreal but then lost 1–0 away to Bodø/Glimt on 14 October. A goalless Bundesliga draw against Union Berlin on 17 October extended a run without a win in three matches across competitions, putting attention on how Niko Kovač’s team create better chances and recover attacking rhythm.

Borussia Dortmund: Karetsas ruled out
Konstantinos Karetsas will miss the trip to Azerbaijan after suffering a ligament injury in his foot during Dortmund’s match against Union Berlin. The club’s sporting director Lars Ricken confirmed he would not travel. Additional selections should not be treated as confirmed until Dortmund publish their official match squad and starting XI.
Sabah FK: Selection picture
Sabah’s 2–0 win over Slavia Praha provides the clearest recent competitive reference for the hosts. Stas Pokatilov started in goal, with Kaheem Parris and Joy-Lance Mickels among the goalscorers. There is not enough verified information to name further injuries or suspensions for this fixture, so a projected line-up would risk misleading readers.
Sabah vs Borussia Dortmund Head-to-Head
A reliable official record of prior competitive meetings was not established during this review. Rather than invent an all-time head-to-head total, the most relevant comparison is how the teams have performed in their first two league-phase matches. Historical H2H information should be added only when confirmed through an authoritative match record.
Key Players and Tactical Battles
For Sabah, the contributions of Parris and Mickels against Slavia show that their attacking threat is not dependent on one player. Their challenge is to retain that threat against a Dortmund side with greater recent Champions League experience.
For Dortmund, the main question is whether the visitors can improve their attacking execution after failing to score against Bodø/Glimt and Union Berlin. Sabah’s latest European clean sheet makes their organisation without the ball an important part of the contest, but neither team’s formation should be described as confirmed before the official line-ups appear.
When Will Sabah vs Borussia Dortmund Line-ups Be Confirmed?
Both clubs’ confirmed starting XIs will be available nearer kick-off. Until then, any suggested formations or player combinations are provisional. Supporters can use SportPesa Score to follow the available match updates and check for officially confirmed team selections.
