Real Madrid: 2026/27 La Liga Season Overview

Real Madrid 2026/27 brings another demanding La Liga campaign for a club pursuing domestic and European honours. José Mourinho leads the first team, with Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham among the established names in the squad. This overview covers the season, key players and where to follow fixtures and results.

Real Madrid 2026/27 features a reshaped squad and a busy calendar across La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. The club plays its home matches at the Santiago Bernabéu, while the Madrid derby against Atlético is one of its major league rivalries. Match dates, lineups and standings change throughout the campaign, so this page focuses on the wider season rather than a fixed weekly fixture list. For the wider competition picture, see our La Liga 2026/27 season preview.

Real Madrid’s La Liga campaign brings together league matches against Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and the rest of Spain’s top flight. Every match contributes to the league table, but the season cannot be judged from a single derby or an early result. The club’s 3–2 away win at Elche on 15 September showed how quickly a match can change, with Carlos Espí scoring the late winner. A broader season overview is more useful here than repeating results that belong on a dedicated match page.

Real Madrid’s squad for 2026/27 includes Thibaut Courtois in goal, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham in midfield, and Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior in attack. The official first-team list also includes defender Ibrahima Konaté and forward Yan Diomande among the newer faces. Vinícius extended his Real Madrid contract until June 2032, giving the club continuity alongside its summer additions. Squad selection can vary from match to match, so a confirmed starting XI should not be treated as the full season squad.

Real Madrid manager José Mourinho returned to the club in 2026 after previously coaching the first team from 2010 to 2013. His focus is on preparing the squad for different opponents while balancing league fixtures with European competition. He has spoken about improving through training and matches, rather than promising immediate results from a new setup. Player availability and tactical plans can change before kick-off, making official team announcements the appropriate source for match-specific updates.

Real Madrid fixtures include home matches at the Santiago Bernabéu and away trips across Spain. The derby with Atlético Madrid and meetings with Barcelona are major parts of the La Liga calendar, but their dates and kick-off times can be revised. The September derby is scheduled at Atlético’s Riyadh Air Metropolitano, not at Real Madrid’s stadium.
