Liverpool must beat Southampton on Tuesday to keep any hopes of an unprecedented quadruple alive.

The Reds were nearly back in the Premier League race following West Ham’s fast start against Man City on Sunday. But the champions in waiting – they lead by four points with two games to go – rescued a 2-2 draw.

Liverpool will enter the game high in confidence after they defeated rivals Chelsea 6-5 in a penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium to clinch the FA Cup.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a few worries about keeping his team fresh with the Champions League final now 11 days away.

“This is game 60. When did Southampton have their last game? 10-12 days?” he says.

“They might lack rhythm but we lose that advantage if we make changes. They are completely fresh.

“Last home game, what would you do?”

Liverpool has the upper hand over the Saints after they have secured four wins in the last five meetings between the two teams, while Southampton have a single win in that run.

Klopp will be with the services of Fabinho due to a muscle injury, while forward Mohamed Salah and defender Virgil van Dijk remain doubtful for the encounter.

Luis Diaz has been one of the Reds standout performers since joining the club in January after he netted four goals and assisted a further three goals in 12 appearances in the Premier League.
